Dennis Yarmouth Ecumenical Council for the Prevention of Homelessness. 1994 - 2022
In 1994 some concerned citizens got together to address the reality that homeless families were being housed in motels in Yarmouth. Some money was literally thrown into a hat, and the Yarmouth Ecumenical Council for the Homeless was created. Shortly thereafter, Dennis joined and the organization became DYECH. All money raised is donated to the Housing Assistance Corporation(HAC), Project Prevention. The funds are raised at events such as: golf tournaments, concerts, dinners, and the sale of Cape Cod Caring Cards just to give you an idea.
Our organization consists of members of thirteen parishes from the Dennis-Yarmouth area, who meet monthly to pray, plan and vote the funds to the Prevention Program. Our entire team consists of unpaid volunteers; the only expenses are for materials used in our events, such as food and supplies.
Over 1.5 million dollars has been raised, to help families stay in their homes. It is far better to assist families in trouble, than to try to get them in from the streets after they become homeless.
Tax deductible Donations may be mailed to :
